The 2023 UK 2oz Gold Matte Proof Coin. Produced to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III . The coin was orignally sold by the Royal Mint to a select few and in doing so it became one of the rarest modern British gold coins ever issued, combining an historic royal milestone.
With an exceptionally small mintage of only 106 being available globally. To date only 23 have been graded in this top grade.
The matte proof finish is entirely different from traditional proof coinage, delivering a soft, sculptural appearance that highlights relief and detail rather than mirrored contrast.
This coin has been graded PF70 Matte by NGC, confirming a flawless example under magnification. The top grade for Matte coins are exceptionally difficult to achieve due to the unforgiving nature of the matte surface.
